Krabi '10

It's been a wonderful year for me and bee, and what better way to celebrate than to go for a sweet little vacation in krabi! what an awesome vacation it was. from turquoise blue waters, to complimentary birthday pancakes, to nostalgic massage parlours with old hokkien music... but nothing beats being able to experience all these with the loveliest girl in the wirl!

who wants to be a minionaire?

minion's heart

because life is so stressful, i decided that for wen's 29th bday she will get her very own minion to do everything for her. that way we can have lots of quality time together! but because i don't have access to any cloning devices, plus minions weren't out in stores yet (at least not in singapore?), i had to home-make my minion out of the following:

1. yellow cloth for tights
2. white cloth
3. fibre stuffing
4. black permanent marker
5. thread
6. lots of heart :)

due to time constraints, minion is currently naked and very embarrassed. but we will clothe it soon! in the meantime, check out naked minion pics!

Inception

i watched inception sitting just 3 rows from the front, which was absolutely fantastic especially during the tumbly hotel corridor scene where arthur had to fight off fischer's brain security guard while the whole world rotated about him. i've long been fascinated by dreams, and christopher nolan really did a great job constructing this universe, such that it made almost perfect sense even with all its complexity. i liked the representation of how our dreams can get affected by our surrounding environment in real life -- even though sometimes the expression of external conditions seem to get translated too directly into the dream world (eg. being in a falling van outside the dream = being in zero gravity inside the dream). i would have assumed that there should be some transitional distortion, at least that's what happens when i dream! although i've never been dreaming while in a falling van, i've definitely dreamt of dogs barking incessantly at me while in real life, the alarm clock was ringing at full blast.

oh and i'm always intrigued by the idea of lucid dreaming -- i think i've probably only had 1 or 2 lucid dreams in my entire life, and i really want to have that ability! one instance which i remember very clearly is when i was in this huge common toilet and a slime monster was chasing me through it, slithering in and out of urinals. i remembered how a friend told me once that if i encounter a nightmare, i should go out into a field, sit on a rock and tell myself "i want to get out of this dream". so with the realization that i definitely wasn't in reality, i did what he told me -- found the rock, sat on it, and told myself to get out. and i did! woke up in cold sweat and with great gratitude that i was nowhere close to being devoured by phlegm.

cos it smells better?

there's this particular urinal (and also a cubicle) in my office that i would always use, except when it's occupied. absolutely no conceivable reason that has anything to do with practicality, convenience or comfort. is that normal?

and why? i don't get it.
